One of the little perks of life as a subeditor is the reviewing ... the chance to pluck the latest cultural offering out of a box, digest it, form an opinion, and tell the world all about it in no uncertain terms. The music and book reviews reproduced here were written during my time sub-editing at the Manawatu Evening Standard, but the films date back a little further to an Incredibly Strange Film Night at Massey University - both these and the television review appeared in the Massey student paper Chaff.
